Thanks for the lead but no info on the IAI, AMT or Galena made pistols.
Several great sites out there relevant to the original .357 and.44 automags (Built under Harry sanford). I am looking fro production info on the new-later 1911 style models (all)

But for clarification are you talking about these types of automags

or maybe the Hardballer series as you mentioned the 1911 style?
Sorry for pointing you the wrong way. Guess I can't help you then.

Those are the automags I refer to built in several calibers over several years. 22 mag probably the most common with .30 carbine second most. Also some .45 win mag and .50 ae built... A few 10mm mags out there. All are basically 1911 style actions with some internal variations.
What I am after are total quantities of each model and what ser # correspond to year produced. I collect these pistols and have several of each model including some IAI (Irwindale Arms)which predate AMT label and are very scarce.
I know that only 3000 of the AMT 5s were built. No idea on the 4s (.45)I think that about 15000 3's were built, but that is a guess.
I would think this information is out there somewhere... Done a lot of digging and letter writing. Zippo so far. Probably have to locate someone that worked for AMT or Galena.
