Rifle Case

I am looking for a rifle case that doesn't look like one. Not too long ago I was in a cab and the driver was practically having a coronary over the fact that I had a cased rifle. People just weird out nowadays about guns and I don't want to attract that sort of interest--much less any unsavory folks who might want to take my guns.

I know there are some nice rectangular cases out there that are somewhat pricey that would do the job; but I was wondering if there is an inexpensive alternative. It should preferably be a soft case that's easy to carry. The particular gun is just under 36" and has a scope.

I have both hard and soft rifle cases that are rectangle. When I fly with my long guns I use my SKB hard case. It holds 4 long guns and does not look like a gun case.
I was in the airport on a recent trip, and a lady in line with me asked, "is that a keyboard" I said "yes it is".
It's none of her business what Iam carrying. My soft cases look too much like gun cases, and dont have the required locks to travel by air with them.
If you travel with your guns much, I would bite the bullet, and buy a good quality hard case.

I'm looking at some guitar cases as suggested, but save for some rectangular hard cases, many of them have the same issue of giving thieves a "target" by their shape. Having lost a customized electric guitar in the past, I'm really defensive about how I travel. One company actually shapes theirs like a coffin--not a message I would care to send, but I thought was amusing [:D]

I don't know if this will work long term, but I settled on using one of those gun socks inside a photo light stand bag that was in my closet. I don't think this makes me look like a photographer(another "target" of the criminal element). I might measure some of the smaller soft rifle cases to see if one might easily fit inside the stand bag as the sock doesn't offer much padding protection.
