Sounds like it is a Trap grade gun (they were made from 1976 - 1982). Should be worth at least $800 with the box.

The barrel length, vent rib, and choke configuration.

Bert, Trap guns usually come Full/Full or Full/Improved Modified, Field guns usually come Full/Mod.....note I said "usually".[;)]

That could be so concerning the choke configuration, but how do you explain the 30-inch vent rib barrel?

It was an option on the Field model. The 96 Trap model only came in Full/Full or Full/Improved Modified with a 30" bbl. I included "usually" above because you know that Winchester did special orders on about any gun.
Could this be a 1st? I know something about Winchesters that you didn't?[:0][:D]
BTW Tazz, the 30" bbl's on that gun are kinda scarce.

Isn't the first time, and it won't be the last... especially when it comes to modern Winchester firearms[:I][:)]

    Hello Jeff,

I would still estimate that it is an $800 gun... the vent rib and the original box are a plus.
