I believe the Browning Auto 5 was one. Remington also had one based on the same design if I'm not mistaken.

Hello many different guns used this system Browning A5 the most famous and copied to use this system. Winchester even had a early model that to prevent from paying Lic. rights to Browning used a knured section on the barrel you grabbed this section and pulled the barrel back into the action to load the first shell.

The Browning Auto-5 (1902) was the first, the Remington Auto Loader (1905) was next. The Remingtom Auto Loader became the Model 11 in 1911. Wincheser made the ill-fated Model 1911 which also used a recoiling barrel. The Remington Model 48 and 58 Sportsman, and 11-48 were I believe the last of the so-called long recoil operated shotguns.

Bert H : No offense, but FYI the Remington 58 was Remingtons first gas operated shotgun. It is essentially a gas operated model 870. The bbls will even interchange on 870s and 58s, but the 58s have a gas port..............[8D]

Yes the winchester is the one that you have to push the barrel in it dioes not have a cocking lever all the rest you "MAY push the barrel in but it is easier to just pull back on the cocking lever.

Along with the Rem.Mod.11, using the Browning patent "long recoil" action, Remington made another "hump back" long action shotgun called "The Sportsman". The Sportsman would only accept three rounds, two in the mag. and one in the chamber.
