What is the difference between a model 69 and a 69A, Can you suggest a
good book to learn this from?
    Thanks again for your help.

Basically the difference is inte way the rifle cocks. The 69 cocks on closing the bolt, while the 69A cocks on opening. Also, some 69A's are grooved for a scope while the 69 is not.

If you look at them, the bolt handle on the model 69 comes straight out and down while the handle on the 60A is swept back. The same is true for the models 72 and 72A.

    model 69 and 69a

this model was designed by winchester to answer the demand for a medium priced hunting and target 22 rimfire boltaction rifle.the rifle had a detachable box magazine, and many were offered with factory-installed telescopes in 2-3/4 and 5 power.the stock was plain walnut with pistol grips and plain forend, this modle was not serial numbered, the 69a version was introduced in 1937 and featured an improved cocking mechanism. introduced in 1935 as the model 69,this gun was droped in 1963 with sales of about 355,000 guns, hope that helps,,
