Enfield No 2 Mark 1DA hammer change possable?

I have the miltatry surpus bug and can not get enough of the cheap guns that I am finding and one that I have found is a Enfield No 2 Mark 1 in .38 under $200. The other reason that I am pulled toward this gun is is just like Indiana Jones's in the last movie. I like the looks and is in very good conditon but it can only be shot in DA. This would not be so bad if pulling back on the trigger was not like dragging a mule. So here is the $64,000 question. Is is possable to not only find a hammer for this gun to make in a SA/DA but to switch it over to this? Also will it be safe to use newer 38 S&W ammo in it, nothing too hot just around cowboy loads? Here is a picture of what this gun looks like but not the gun I might be buying.
