I want a M1, one to actually shoot with. I want a early WWII rifle in very nice shape. I do not want to have to do anything to it as far as refinish or new stock or anything. I read all of the things about the numbers on the parts and initials on the seperate parts. Who can be contacted that will be know all of this and be honest in selling you a correct number/manufacturer rifle?? This is very confusing and I can see where you could pay way too much for a piece of crap.

i was under the impression that cmp only had rack grades left?
The CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) has Garands for sale in Collector, Correct, Service, Field, and Rack grades. Prices for complete rifles (not receivers or without stocks) range from $350.00 to $1400.00
