Good gun book buy.

Today I picked a copy of:
"The Illustrated Directory of GUNS" by David Miller. 750+ pages of all types of guns and thier histories. Doesn't have every gun in world, but definantly a good varity of different types and makes from all over the world.
It was on sale for $19.99 at Walden Books. They said it was usually $75.00 .

You can never have enough gun books. I don't know how many times I've whipped open my blue book or cartridges of the world book just to reference something.

If you're looking for gun books at bargin prices, there are a couple of places I'd suggest. First, there is a national chain out of Texas called "Half Price Books." that occassionally has both new and used gun books on sale. Unfortunately, they are only in 14 states, but if you want to see about finding one near you, visit http://www.halfpricebooks.com/find_a_store.html

The other place to try is Edward R. Hamilton Booksellers. They put out a newpaper-like catalog but they also have a website http://www.edwardrhamilton.com/a

Finally, if there is a particular title your trying to find but just can't seem to locate it, try ABE Books. It's really a collection of book sellers from around the world who use this centralized posting site, but everyone I've ever dealt with has been wonderful. For example, there are several postings for The Illustrated Directory of 20th Century Guns by Miller, beginning at $8.39. The bigger Illustrated Book of Guns by Miller begins at $12.88. As drsck said, half priced books is a good bet. Got a secret from someone who worked there one time: if there is a big stack of the book you want, new or used, dig down to the bottom. For some reason they price them cheaper as you go down.[?]

I've got a couple of directories/encyclopedias of guns. What never ceases to amaze me is the fact that if they were published in England, the printers or authors always get at least one important detail wrong. I was looking at that book the other day at the bookstore wherein it asserted that an AK-74 fired the 5.56mm round. SHEESH!!!!
