Can a Smith & Wesson Model 59, be shipped to CA? This is a used S & W hicap, that was made in the 80's.

You can ship it to an FFL dealer in CA but the pistol is not listed on the DOJ list of approved models so it is not available for retail sales, although it can be sold to a LEO or to another dealer. The magazine stays behind unless the FFL dealer provides you with a copy of his DOJ High Capacity Magazine Permit. As a non dealer you do not need to concern yourself with obtaining a DOJ shipping number, that is for dealer-dealer transactions only.
