looking for comments about these pistols.i am going to buy a hi-cap.carry gun w/manual safety.i have decided on either the HK usp compact or Ruger sr9c.the grips on both fit me well.i like looks of the HK and the night sights option, but it seems a little chunky at the middle of the slide for a carry gun.the Ruger comes with a 2nd higher cap.magazine(17-9mm or 15-40cal.)but i dont think night sights are available.any experienced opinions on the recoil and follow up shot capabilities of either of these guns in 9mm or 40cal?

I have shot both, carried a HK for years. Never got used to the trigger. I would go with the Ruger if I had too. US made and parts readily available. One of the reasons we switched from the HK.
Good luck, with prices these days on ammo, I would go with the 9mm, unless you reload or got plenty of money. I havent shot the new HK, they may have fixed the horrible trigger.

Nite Sights are available for just about anything you want to put them on. They might not be a factory option, but then again, a lot of things that are good, don't come stock that way.

That said, I would go with the Sig 239 Single stack. It has it all over both of the combat tupperware guns. Yes it is only single stack, but you should be able to put it bewtween the eyes better, so you will not be needing a double tap.

    Of the two you mention...HK

This is like comparing a one eyed half ton Russian hooker to a porn star like Chloe Dior (yeah I know I'm dating myself [:D]). Both will get the job done but at what cost?

The HK USP compact isn't very compact to the full sized. I think it's less than one inch on both ends so why bother with the so called compact. Also with a Jet Funnel on the full sized USP one can add 3 more rounds of 9mm to 18 Expert magazine. I suppose if you're dead set on the "compact" that really ain't you can buy the +2 plastic do-hickey magazine round extender.

If you're looking for an "American" Glock knock-off buy the S&W [:D]. Then buy a Glock after much tear shed and bitchin'. Personally I'd buy the HK and be done.

I've had a lot of range time with the sr40c. Buy it. For the price, it simply cannot be beat. Glock reliability, sig accuracy, and kel tec concealability for a little more than hi point price. American made. And great holsters as well as night sights are already available. You will not be sorry.

I own an hk, kimber, and a couple browning pistols among several other high dollar pistols so im clearly no stranger to quality. Hopefully that will put my recommendation into perspective for you. I love the sr40c.

You can get any night sights you want at Midway USA, or Brownell's. They stock a great supply from all manufacturer's of the sights, for all of the pistol's. When you get the night sights, before you put them on, give me an e-mail, and I will walk you thru it.

I'll find them for you and post a link when I get back home from work. I can't remember where I found them off the top of my head

I did a google search for "sr9/sr9c tritium" sort by price lowest first. I believe the sights are the same on the 9mm and .40. But as already mentioned, Midway and Brownells are also great places to find gun stuff.

http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=sr9c+tritium&hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=5747489356634110253&sa=X&ei=N2fwTqbIOuTW0QGErZCyAg&ved=0CFEQgggwAA#scoring=tp here are some Meprolights. My favorite. Guaranteed to glow for 12 years.
