OAL reloading tolerance for hanguns

if a reloading book gives a specific OAL like 1.200 what should the + or - be?

    It all depends on what you are shooting(load), and what you are shooting it in...semi auto, revolver, or single shot. If the throat is short, and you seat long, you can drive up the pressures, by having the bullet seated into the lands. Functionality is another aspect. The OAL is mostly used as a guide. On single shots, using bottle necked cartridges, I usually exceed the OAL, by seating about 0.015-0.020" off the lands. Revolver's I seat to a crimping groove. I don't load for any of my semi-auto's, as I carry them for personal defense.
