Glow sticks in shotshells

First of all, Merry Christmas everyone!
Yesterday evening at the skeet field, a man had a few shells that had nonflammable glow sticks in them. That was pretty neat. I knew there were flare shot but those sticks were neat. He didn't hit a clay with either of the four that he shot, I wonder what, if anything, would happen. As they were, they went out into the field and burned out. Would they pop when they hit something or what would they do?

Fiocchi is making them. Expensive, and the problem is that the glow sticks doesn't have the same mass and weight as the lead shot. Close up they probably are in register. As the range increases the shot cloud and glow stick are going to diverge.

These are tracers called Canned Heat Cyalume by Fiocchi and are packaged 10 rounds to a can. They are packaged in a can because the cyalume chemical is light sensitive and will degrade otherwise. Each can has an expiration date. See below image.

The tracer is simply a short light stick which is activated when fired from the shotgun. Cyalume uses two mixtures in separate capsules in the light stick. Firing the shotshell causes the capsule to break and starts the chemical reaction. However, dropping or throwing the shell can activate the light stick also.

Loads are .75 ounce #7.5 or #8 shot.
