Help! I'm away from my books and need the know the barrel threads on the original 1885 Hi Wall. (diameter and pitch) Thanks.

    The NRA Gunsmith Guide shows a shank diameter of .825" and a length of .844" for #1 & #2 barrels for Low walls and High walls. For High walls with a #3 barrel or larger the shank diameter is shown as .932" with a length of .856". Pitch for either is 16 TPI, Vee thread. de Haas shows the large shank as ..935" dia by .850" long and the small shank as .825" dia by .845" long. Again 16TPI, Vee thread.

    Frank De Haas has the correct dimensions. The NRA Gunsmith Guide is not correct in regards to the No. 2 barrel for a high-wall frame. In my manuscripts, I have a table with the correct dimensions for all Model 1885 barrels, including the correct taper per-inch.
