I have a lee loader, it doesn't have any markings except the patent #. It seems too big for .44 magnum, how do I tell if it's for .45 auto or .45 colt?

If it's a really old one the expander will be .454 or so. I would just try and load a 45 ACP. I looked at the lee site and a 45 colt will do 454 casull if you buy the small priming chamber.

I recall the tap-in sizing chamber for the .45 Colt having a counterbore for the rim; don't think (rimless) .45 ACP has that.
