Oklahoma Governor Signs Bill Eliminating Concealed Permit Requirement

Oklahoma joins Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, West Virginia, Wyoming, and Vermont as the 15th state to declare the Second Amendment as an individual?s carry permit.

On December 14, Breitbart News reported that Oklahoma was on the verge of abolishing its carry permit requirement. Lawmakers tried to abolish the requirement under former Gov. Mary Fallin (R), but she vetoed their legislation. Stitt came into office voicing his support for eliminating the permit requirement.

Tulsa World reported that Stitt stated at the time of signing the legislation, ?As I traveled all over the state to all 77 counties, I heard from Oklahomans all over that they wanted us to protect their right to bear arms. I think the best defense for a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.?

Democrat State Sen. Carri Hicks opposed the elimination of the permit requirement, saying, ?I think this particular law is further opening the gate to some devastation on [women and children].?

Idaho did this a few years ago.
Kinda nice to see open carry in the local WalMart.
So I see we have a Fudd on the boards.

some schools had shooting teams...now political correctness and political power have eliminated most of that ...think firearms safety would be a good course taught along with history, civics, and government.........instead of learning how to label different, bathroom choice, and whether i want to be a girl or boy scout

Congrats to the residents of Oklahoma.
Enemies of armed self-defense focus on the gun. They ignore the person protected with that gun.

SC is voting on it soon. I will still keep my CWP so it is granted in states I visit who do not have the national yet.

Is it your position, then, that passing and signing the law was a bad thing ?

No,my position is it's pretty sad that supposedly"free men" get all giddy when their overlords give them permission to exercise a natural right. The piece of paper that grants them that permission (nothing more than the opinion of a politician backed by the threat of force) is just that,a piece of paper.

    Oh, I see.

"Free men" and overlords, eh ?

Is it even passingly possible that a free man can be relieved that when exercising his rights, one less nuisance has been abated ?

Possibly, although unlikely once the precedence and mindset has been set that one man holds a higher claim over another man's life and property.

Barz, I fail to see how your (somewhat) verbally attacking any one of our Members here, who are obviously Pro Second Amendment, advances our cause at all.

I am (personally) all for "Constitutional Carry," in all States. It is a Right spelled out in the Constitution. Any States that thereby hold up that Right, and affirm it as a "Constitutional Right," have my support.

You are Pro Second Amendment, I take it? (Regardless of your [sometimes] somewhat vague Political views.) If not, why hang out here? Seriously.

I think you need to read a bit more closely.

I am sorry , if I missread your intent.

It seemed to me, that you were giving a hard time to a Member that was advocating "Constitutional carry," as being a good thing.

I am all for any State that advocates/affirms and upholds our Constitutional 2nd Amendment Rights.
