I Had To Step Up & Out Of My Comfort Zone

I have been the Commander for our Legions SAL for quite a few years now.
Every Memorial Day Ceremony, it is my job, along with the head of the Auxiliary to place the wreath at the tomb during the ceremony.
The husband of the lady I was supposed to help today is not getting around very good and he handed me his rifle and informed me we were trading jobs this year.
Knowing all eyes are on you during the 21 gun salute and knowing that you have only done this once before 10 years ago at a funeral gets the nerves going.
I might not of been as sharp with the commands, but, my rifle went off all three times.
As a side note, after the first volley, I heard one safety click off😉

I give them all credit for trying, but it was kind of sad. I told my brother it was too bad Dad was in the Army and not the Air Corps.
That is sorry.
