Automated systems.....A letter sent to the wrong person.....ME

On Saturday my wife (she is listed first on the registration) received a letter from the PA Tollway authority with a bill for a toll that occurred on the 4th of June. The letter included a picture of a ratty Dodge van with a License plate that had the same numbers as the plate on my truck. When we looked closely at the somewhat grainy photo, it was NOT a Missouri plate but I was unable to determine what State it was....Neither of us have been in PA since the late 1970's and neither of us has ever owned any Dodge vehicles.....
So we wasted about 30 hours being concerned about dealing with this thing.....Fast forward to today, mid morning, my bride called the number for the PA Tollway Authority...there were a couple options on ways to pay...she was able to get a real person to speak with and stated the process...
The young lady that we talked to was very kind but you could tell she was thinking, "yeah sure I have heard this before"...?.she pulled up the
pics and checked the information. Then she said.....well this is a WV plate and this should not have happened....sorry for this, she gave us her name and employee # and told us to disregard the notice....All we can figure is they ran the plate and as Missouri comes before WV and the computer kicked our name out and the letter came to us...
So good job and thanks to the tollway worker that took care of us today....too much dependency on automation caused the issues and will likely continue to get more complicated in the future..Our biggest concern still is the actual individual that tried to beat the toll will do it again and we will have to deal with this again...
But for now it is over....Anyone else had something like this happen???.

I was not anywhere near area at which the letter said I had littered so I just ignored it. The letter did say that the information may not be exactly right, just someone had reported the plate number.
And you trusted her, a government worker  , I'd want something in writing saying so...... you may be surprised at a later date at how good she really is at following through
"Never do wrong to make a friend----or to keep one".....Robert E. Lee
I'll keep that in mind since I was a "government employee" for over 30 years....
