Rang up the big meat purchase at the local grocer. Handed cashier the cash seen the total and I knew what the change would be. Printed receipt and she goes to give me less money than what was suppose to be returned. I didn't take it. She looked confused and I told her that amount was not correct it should be another amount. Manager is called. He looks at receipt and says it is correct. I told him I didn't know what kind of game they were playing with the cash register BUT re ring up all the meat and I bet you the whole cart I am correct. Manager rang it up and guess what? Price on the first cashiers register that I could see was for FS.. What the heck is FS I ask the manager.. Food Stamps. I ask him you mean the folks on Food Stamps get the food cheaper? He gave me my amount back and did not answer. Wow.

I always watch my receipts, especially electronics type big box stores and to a lesser extent other places like Wal-mart as well. With electronics, the prices go up and down and with all the sales, I find errors often regarding either posted price not matching, or items wringing up with the wrong product code. I had one thing I bought at Wal-Mart a while back that was a small food item, like cereal or something. It rang up as a case of tampons. LOL

These kids today depend on the calculator to figure the answer. Food stamp people getting a discount was a real eye opener.

The scammers are making a fortune off some (the younger generations) who swipe a card and don't want a receipt so never look at it. And if you use rebate coupons, some will ring thru one and not the other. Unless you look at the receipt, you never know you got robbed.

I hand them dollar coins. But only when I?ve got spare time to discuss the matter and argue that, yes, it is worth a dollar...

This is a real pet peeve of mine.
It bugs the crap out of me that no-one wants to count back your change anymore.
Seriously, if you can count, you can make change. You just need to be smarter than the coins you're working with.

Okay, I guess I am having a senior moment but if they tried to give you less than you expected and it was rang up as FS, then wouldn't that mean they were charging more for a FS sale instead of a regular sale?

Example - $80 sale and you give them $100 they would give you $20 change. If FS sale was cheaper, say $60 then you would get $40 change, which is not less than $20 change you were expecting.

Or my reading comprehension skills are not at the best at midnight.

Safeway had a buy two 12 pack and get three 12 pack "free". So I got 10 of the participating brands. Oh that Dr. Pepper "Berry" is liquid CRACK. SOOOOOOoo, goooood. Anyways total should've been close to $40 with tax and CRV (California can scam) but it was in the $50-something range. I wasn't gonna * at the register since that's what "customer service" counter is there for. So the girl at the counter took the receipt and went to double check to make sure I didn't get a brand that wasn't par taking. Long story short I got change back.

With California went and started to charge for bags and occasional bagger at the check out I am to bag my own. So I really can't keep an eye out on the checker like I like to, to catch mistakes as they come up. But I'll hang back looking over the receipt before heading out. Now the receipt at some places are hard to read with print out of regular price, sale price and discount taking so much of the field.

So I do wonder if the system is rigged for the food stamp? Since they don't look because what for? It's free crowd.

If the food stamp price is cheaper, how would you get less money back in change? Wouldn't you have gotten more money back?
