Started on Friday evening. My wife and I were watching a movie when we see lights shining in our basement windows. It's not really possible for car headlights to shine in through them due to the fence we had erected about a year ago now. I grab my pistol and check it out. Turns out there was a helicopter search light lighting up mine and my neighbors yards. Head upstairs and I see a whole fleet of squad cars out there. Sheriff officers and city police both are out there in full force.

The helicopter circled and spot lighted the area for about half an hour.

About an hour later, without any to-do, they all disperse except for one city cop car and he's parked right in front of my house.

Turns out my neighbor who is a city police officer had made an arrest, the guy was let out, and he made some death threats re: the arresting officer and everyone involved in the case. And my neighbor was 99% sure he showed up at his place Friday night. Apparently, the perp figured out where he lived.

So, the city police ended up parking a patrol car outside his house for couple days.

I like my neighbor a lot. He's a really good guy. If he made an arrest, odds are near 100% he handled it properly, by the book, etc. (every one has a bad day so I can't discount that possibility). He's also huge. The guy is probably 6'5" and 300lbs of solid muscle. He's not someone you want to mess around with.

Anyway, I appreciated the officers being there for him. I offered up use of my bathroom, and brought out a jug of ice water during the heat of the day and a mug of coffee for the late shift.

Sure hope they catch that guy.
Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
