54 years ago..........a guy took a dump off his motorcycle. He was hurting and needed a ambulance. A crowd of people all ages, more than the video, stood around for a long time. At that time a local radio station, if I remember correctly KCBQ offered a prize of $10.40 for the best news lead each week. Several people called the news station but no one called for a ambulance. I was there and asked if anyone called for help. When I found out no one called I did. Later I gave it some thought and decided never again would I not call. Better the authorities get 50 calls than none. Since then that decision has payed off for someone many times.
As far as a crowd doing nothing I believe every one seems to wait for some one else to go into action. If someone starts to help others follow.

"On March 13, 1964, a 28-year-old woman named Catherine ?Kitty? Genovese was raped and killed in two separate late-night attacks near her home in Kew Gardens, Queens. Police found that at least 38 people had seen the attacks or heard Genovese scream, but no one intervened and just one woman called the police."
Things ain't changed that much. Those people on that beach are all sheep, grass eaters and that's ok. But was that a cop walking calmly down the beach not charging into the water to assist?? Now that's a horse of a different color.
