    I watched a special on the history channel about how he established Mission Control. John Glenn had an incident when he first went up to orbit the earth. Coming back an alarm went off in the capsule and control didn't know rather to leave the rockets attached to the front of the heat shield in place or not. The alarm was something to do with the heat shield. The administration at the control center took charge not him. After Glenn got home Mr. Craft made damn sure no one could override his decision again, not even the President. He was totally in charge of everything.
