guy drove into my drive last night and tore down a 12 inch corner post on my fence. backed up and got lined up on my drive and continued for 150 yards into my backyard. hit my boat and trailer head on and destroyed both, driving the boat backwards into a tree and tearing the motor and transom from the boat. stayed on the gas until his truck dug down to the axel. got out and walked home, a sort of neighbor from about 1/2 mile away. called the sheriff and they arrested him, leaving the scene of an accident. he was already on probation so they took him to jail. license plate expired in 2014 want to guess if he had insurance. total loss for me. also had to buy eight tires this week, replace the brakes on my truck and daughters car, battery in truck died, and front tractor tire blew up. tractor tire was 40 years old so i got my use out of it. and to top it all off i drove my bush hog into the side of my truck, only dent in my truck but its a big one. I will be having my 70th birthday next wednesday maybe things will start getting a little better after that.

sorry to hear, I am guessing he was either high/drunk you might check and see if you can put lien on the truck if it wasn't totaled may get a little of your money back

Homeowners should cover everything. In the meantime , chain the truck to a tree till the bills are paid.

$1800 deductible on homeowners. truck wasnt worth towing away, total junk even before the damage.

You paid for insurance from idiots like this. File it & move on. Let your insurance company work the case for you. :(

my opinion..this bozo needs a real beat down...he wont get diddly from our court system and you wont get any money out of him....and his truck should be totalled none useable again before someone gets it out of YOUR yard....

Almost 30 years ago, a drunk driver with no insurance ran through FIL's yard fence, hit my Jeep, and then plowed into the next door neighbor's bathroom. I held the too drunk to walk driver until the fuzz arrived and called my insurance. My insurance covered my vehicle damage 100% and sued the DUI driver. FIL's insurance paid to fix the fence and sued the DUI driver for damage to fence and yard. Insurance company of owner of damaged home sued the DUI driver for the very significant structural damage to home. It took 3 years for the DUI driver to pay restitution (a few hundred dollars)to my vehicle insurance--I got a letter at the end of that time informing me the collection was complete. Don't really know how long it took for the DUI driver to repay the other insurance companies but I'll bet she was living of macaroni and beans for a LONG time.
If you vehicle and homeowner insurance is worth a damn at all, they should cover the losses and cover your interests in court. If they fail on either of these, look for different insurance providers.

    I wouldn't bet on it.

When I was living in Knoxville back in the 70s some drunk fool mistook my driveway for a road and came flying down the hill and ran into a fence in my backyard. He then put it in reverse and backed up the hill and hit one of my cars in the driveway. By that time I had come out of the house to see what was going on he had took off again this time he was headed toward me. I moved out of the way and shot 4 holes in the rear end of his car with my .357 Mag as he drove by. I felt like shooting him but I didn't I just gave him something he'd have to deal with which was explaining to his wife or who ever how he got 4 bullet holes in the rear end of their car.
