Cousin killed herself and another driver yesterday.....absolutely insane

I have a branch of my family that seems to be totally on fire at all times. Every time I do a "check in" the updates are filled with tales that only a "best of the Jerry Springer" show could rival. Its always something.....

Friday night I had my grandson and I took him to do a few errands Saturday. I was in Chikfila trying to coax him into eating his chopped up grilled nuggets when my brother called and said he had some bad news. My heart sunk because my brother NEVER calls with bad news, so I didn't know what it might be.

He tells me that our 2nd cousin had left a bar at 3am and died in a car wreck driving the wrong way and hit another driver....killing both of them.

3am......bar......wrong way.....driving......all of this in my head at once and all of it avoidable. The more I learned the worse it got. The man she hit was a father of two, pregnant wife, headed to work at the same place my husband works. He looked like a decent person with a lot in common with myself....just a hard working person with a family. I cannot imagine what his family must be going through.

Facebook brought me to the realization that we have common friends because posts have been popping up with condolences and prayers by people I know. Nothing mentioned of the person that killed him in any of these posts. I'm headed to visit with my Aunt and see if I can help with anything.

Its a small world out there.....you never know when a crap storm will come along and drag you into their nonsense. I'm saddened and ashamed of this whole thing.

sorry for the loss and prayers to all involved sad all the way around

local news seems like every week some is going the wrong way on a interstate or state highway taking a lot of insentient people with them when they crash
one case about a month ago a gal told her about to be ex husband he filed for divorce , she was going to kill her self and was going to drive the wrong way on the interstate
well she did and lived but killed a family . she is now facing countless charges but that will not bring back the family and loss
to say we all need to watch close any time we are out on a drive has a total new meaning any more

Late one foggy night I was riding with a friend in his car and we were headed home from Cherokee lake in East Tennessee on Hwy 11E and we stopped into a gas station to get some gas near Jefferson City.

After we left the station we were driving along and my friend Mike looks over and says what road is that over there that's running along beside this road? He said I don't remember another road around here. I was sitting there about half asleep and I look over to my right for a second and see the dim lights of a car in the fog running along at about the same speed as us going in the same direction. Then suddenly in horror it dawns on me and I screamed at him "Holly Hell you're on the wrong side of the highway you idiot!

It was a 4 lane divided highway and he had pulled out from the gas station and got in the wrong two lanes. It's a wonder we weren't killed along with a bunch of other people. Thankfully there wasn't many cars on the road that time of night.

After he pulled over in a panic and found a way to get back on the right side of the road old Mike was such a bundle of nerves he didn't want to drive anymore nor did I want him to. I drove the rest of the way home.

    Condolences.

She was only 25. My aunt's house is full of food right now. I don't think you could name a casserole that hasn't been dropped off.

Of course, there is a lot of speculation and people trying to connect the dots to reason things out......but I told Larry the only thing I can figure is that no matter the cause, she shouldn't have been driving. If she was too tired, fighting with her "husband", drunk.....any of those reasons, if she had not gotten behind the wheel things would be different.

    Sorry to hear that Locust.

It really is a small world. Like the saying, never burn bridges because you never know when you'll need to come back across.

I have been hired because I knew someone 200 miles away from where I was interviewed. I was also nearly fired at one job because my idiot brother-in-law screwed them over before I was ever hired (I never knew he worked there). I never got a straight story from the company, but it sounded like possible embezzlement. Knowing that bro-in-law, I wouldn't be surprised.

    Sorry for the other family.

I'm no tea-tottler by any means but I don't drive after drinking.
I have it up to my neck it with the courts/cops/ society that allows this DUI's to go on .
I'm sure your cousin has had drunk run in's with the law before. Any body that drinks and is willing to drive, has done it before and will do it again.

We all read about a Dui driver with 7,8 , 9 or more dui tickets. LOCK the SOB's up after 3.
There are no cars and innocent bystanders in jail.

So many more innocent people die from drunks in cars than any firearm. But that doesn't make the news.

My brother and his family were hit head on by a drunk driver. It killed the selfish *, they survived but with some significant injuries. Their Ford Explorer saved their lives. Hers, not so much.

Prayers asked for all families involved. Yes it might have been avoidable we do not know if she was drunk or not.

Either way a lot of families and people are hurting. Prayers asked.

They are doing an autopsy and I expect to hear something soon. I can't help but suspect she was driving drunk because we know she left a bar. I know she was with her husband and he told some crazy tale that nobody believes. Supposedly they were leaving.....and according to him......he went back in to get her cell phone. Some "guy" had it and wouldn't give it back.....so he says he grabbed it and ran from them in a direction different from where she was to keep them from following him to her. Nobody believes this mess. They had to get her cell phone from him the following day. He asked several times what her passcode was to get into the phone. Its just a mess of a situation at every turn.

I believe they got in an argument and he grabbed her phone from her.....she took off and left him there. I don't know for sure, but it seems like a more plausible tale. The funeral is Wednesday.

This will be a light week for my auctions with everything going on like it is.
