Most likely going to their two week summer camp / active duty training. If they were heading north, maybe Ft. Benning?? If they are an infantry or artillery unit they need to go to a base where they can do live fire.

That many semi's loaded with vehicles, I'd say they were surplus and sold to another country and being shipped overseas somewhere or to a Depot to be rebuilt ;)

years ago used to see the convoys on US50 heading to Colorado?? for annual training.....now ???? years ago i was told a story by a reservist who did the colorado two week run...they took them some miles from the fort? and turned them loose in a mountain valley with some eats and stuff to live off the land...he and another guy took off headed north up the east side and turned into a another smaller valley and found an old barn so they camped in the hay for comfort....next morning a rancher showed up and found them and made them a deal if they helped him put up his hay he would provide eats and drinks and nicer bedding at the barn..which they did..eats were thick steaks every day and all sorts of side dishes ..got better than their three squares..time to go back to the rendenzvous point he took them by truck to one mile from it and said thanks and goodbye....all the others out showed back up looking like they had been starved wrestling bears while these guys were clean and buffed and actually had gained weight..he said they dared not tell the true story to the officer in charge
