The work appears to be competently done. I wonder who did it. Didn't Austin Behlert used to cut down High Powers?? He was a master smith. I can't see why anyone would butcher a trigger guard that way though.

Pretty filthy for the pics, in a high $$ auction. Take a look at the schmutz around the safety.

I guess it was too much trouble, to give it a rudemitery cleaning.

None of my firearms look like that, or ever will.

Long ago, I visited the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum near Waco. There I saw a pair of 1911s that were about as silly as that Hi-Power. They were beautiful, fully engraved and inlaid with gold. Grips were ivory or bone and inlaid with gold.

On both guns, the trigger guards had been completely removed. There was no evidence of there ever having been trigger guards. Smooth job.

Now get this. Not only were there no trigger guards, gold-plated wide trigger shoes were added. These guns were just accidents looking for a place to happen.
