The work appears to be competently done. I wonder who did it. Didn't Austin Behlert used to cut down High Powers?? He was a master smith. I can't see why anyone would butcher a trigger guard that way though.

It never occurred to me that a high-guality gunsmith did this.
It did occurr to me that a high-quality gunsmith might fix it, however, for about $3000.
I guess it was too much trouble, to give it a rudemitery cleaning.
None of my firearms look like that, or ever will.

After another look , that's an interesting description "crosshatch," looks like checkering gone wrong,

On both guns, the trigger guards had been completely removed. There was no evidence of there ever having been trigger guards. Smooth job.
Now get this. Not only were there no trigger guards, gold-plated wide trigger shoes were added. These guns were just accidents looking for a place to happen.
