    Nice gun David. Is it a straight pull, or is there another reason for the stock to be notched that way at the bolt handle? Not real familiar with the older Savages..

    I have one just like it. I bought it used when I was 12 years old. I gave $17 for it. We still have it. Last year I gave it to my youngest son on his 12th birthday. It would be hard to count how many squirrels, * and other critters I shot with that rifle.

    I put this one on my watch list.

    It's a single shot, so that area is cut out to allow more room for fingers when you're loading. That's what I think anyway.
