357 Max idea! Your thoughts??

OK so I often get these hairbrained ideas. Some times, after careful consideration, I realize my idea wasn't very bright. To be honest, this is a pretty routine result  ! But except for possible pressure problems this idea just might be a good idea for a change.

I have NEF single shot rifle in a 243. I bought it a good many years ago for my now 20 year old son as his first rifle. Paid $225 for it with a 4X Nikon scope on it. Looked brand new, had less then a box of ammo through it. I was blown away when, with my handloads, it shot just over an inch (1 1/8th!). Love that little rifle. My son doesn't care much for it (Of course :( ) so I use it every once in a while deer hunting when the weather is so nasty I don't want to take one of my "good" rifles out to get all wet and/or snow covered.

I purchased a 38/357 barrel for this rifle thinking this might be the ultimate center fire training rifle for kids. What could be safer and better for training kids than a single shot rifle firing zero recoiling 38 Specials?? But while it seems great as a young kids training rifle, the usefulness seems limited.

And then I got to thinking (Always a dangerous proposition!! )!! Why not ream out that 38/357 barrel so it will accept the 357 Max?? I have read that from a rifle barrel the Max will achieve 35 Remington energy levels. That would mean that barrel would much more useful, everything from teaching kids to close in deer and hogs!!

OK guys, where is the hole in my reasoning??
