EAA Witness Magazine Problem

I have a 9mm Witness pistol, imported by Century. It has no magazine.

I understand there are "large" and "small" frame sizes for the Witness, but I don't know how to tell the difference. I asked EAA that question via email, and they have ignored me.

I looked at GunParts, and they show only full size and compact. Well, I know my gun won't take a compact magazine; I have a compact and it is too short, so I ordered a full size magazine and it is too big in girth to fit. Calling GunParts does no good. Their order takers are just that, order takers. They look up the same page on the site that I do, and look at the same picture and description, and they know no more about it than I do. Customer service is no better, and they do not have ANY sort of technical support anymore.

https://www.gunpartscorp.com/search#query=witness 9mm magazine

If the link above works, can you see any of the magazines that will for sure fit my pistol?

Thanks!

It's most likely, one of the clones of the original Czech CZ 75. As made by Tanfoglio in Italy. Tanfoglio has been making, their knock-off since the 80's. Bunch of the various clones, have also been inported from Turkey and other places in recent years. The small frame, ( 9 mm ), pistols are by far the most common. Your pistol, should take a 9 mm double stack mag. as made for the CZ 75. This is by far the most common of the mags. Used by the original CZ 75, and it's clones.

They might require some fitting though. Bought a original Springfield Armory P 9, ( CZ 75 clone), couple years ago. Only came with one mag. Ordered couple extras off the net. Wouldn't lock up in the pistol. Until I did some filing, on the magazine catch window.

The 9mm seems to come in both large and small frames. The 9mm-marked magazine that I bought from GunParts will not fit in the mag well.

FWIW, I have a magazine, unmarked as to manufacturer, but stamped ".41 AE" on the floorplate, that fits the Witness perfectly.

The .41 AE mag, is the standard, CZ 75, 9 mm size. It dates to the early 90's When a outfit named Magnum Research. Had it developed. It was a .41 caliber bullet, in a cartridge just a little bigger than 9 mm. With a rebated rim, the same size as 9 mm. Because the 40 S & W became so popular, so quickly. The .41 AE, fell by the wayside.

The lip dimensions, on your .41 AE mag are slightly off from 9 mm. 9 mm ammo, might or might not work. Best luck I have in the past with those magazines. Is with 9 mm military ball ammo. 124 grain bullet. A lot of the wimpy, 115 gain commercial loads, specially flat nose HP's. Won't work for beans.

Senioriitis kicking in again! Was Action Arms in Philly. Who developed the .41 Action Express, circa 1990. Not Magnum Research.

I found a magazine on Gunbroker. Seller says it will work in my gun. At least he had more of a positive answer than anyone at GunParts.
