6.5 Creedmore

Anyone here shoot it? Local chain store had a sale on T/C Compass's in that caliber for $229.99. So I got one for no apparent reason. :D T/C guarantees 1moa accuracy out the box and most the reviews back that up. I'll post a range report once I get a few rounds through it.

Seems like a good price. Love the smell of a new rifle in the morning.

I've been shooting it since (2007) before it was released (2008) to the general public. I can't even suggest how many of these I've built and shot of the last 12 years or so. It's a fine cartridge all by itself and can be used for hunting as well as targets out 1,000 yards. Reloading data is everywhere and common loads are super easy to achieve accuracy nodes during testing. But the best part is that you do NOT have to be a reloader to enjoy an accurate cartridge. Hornady and all of the other ammunition manufacturers have gone above and beyond to produce exceptionally accurate ammunition right off the shelf. The best so far by my testing is the Hornady 'Black' and Precision Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor. Some shops are advertising the Black at slightly less than 99 cents/cartridge with the 140 gr. BTHP.

Let us know how you like it!

    Best.

I think you'll like it. Had been interested in the 6.5 Creedmoor round for a while and a LGS had the TC Compass on sale for $250 so had to buy one. Kicks like my 30/30, accurate as my 22-250, and ammo is not exceptionally expensive or hard to find. Hornady 140gr Black and Winchester 125gr deer season XP has shot the best groups for me (Superformance was by far the worst grouping ammo I've tried). Haven't been able to stretch it out past 200 yards but even in my shaking hands using sandbags on a bench I can shoot 1.5 MOA consistently. My only complaint is the bolt can be sticky but that might get better as I break it in more. I was very surprised how nice the trigger is for a "cheap" rifle.
Enemies of armed self-defense focus on the gun. They ignore the person protected with that gun.

The TC Compass rifle is pillar bedded, has an adjustable trigger and 1 MOA guarantee with premium ammo. For the price I do not see how you can beat it.

I am a member of a club and we have a 1000 yd range. I shoot long rang weekly if not more and I shoot with a few guys who have 6.5 Creedmore guns.

They shoot good, easy on the shoulder and buck wind really well.

I still shoot a 308 but its what I am used to and I have been shooting one for 35 years. I just have too much time and equipment invested in it to change. I have a gun in 6mmBR that is kind of tired and I have been thinking of getting a 6.5 barrel for it.

First off, how do they make an accurate rifle at the kind of money I saw them selling for on the auction site?? Which store had them on sale at 229.00??

As far as rifles go, we live in incredible times. It wasn't that long ago a rifle that shot 2 inches or less with factory ammo right out of the box was a keeper. Let's be honest, 2 inches is angle of deer out to 200 - 250 yards all day long and twice on Sunday!! Accuracy of an inch or less gave you big time bragging rights with every gunner you knew, most of whom didn't believe you anyway.

But a rifle on sale at $229 from a company that guarantees 1 inch or less, this is almost the stuff of science fiction!!

    I agree--amazing!

I picked up a slightly-used Ruger in 6.5 Creedmore and the first 3 shots at 100 yards were in one hole!

I have worked long and hard over the years to attain far worse accuracy. And I was thrilled with it.

Channel bedding, synthetic stocks, CNC processes, etc.

But I do miss the finely-blued steel, hand-rubbed walnut and finely-crafted handloads....
I can't believe they misspelled "Pork and Beans!"

That's where I got it. Went the day the ad came out and they were sold out by the time I got there. Had to get a rain check and wait a week. My brother made a longer drive to Cabelas and had half a dozen other guys waiting in line behind him buying this rifle.

I have never done much long range shooting, mostly under 200yds. I have a couple friends that are into long range shooting and have a place where I can shoot 1000+yds so I am curious what this el cheapo rifle (and myself) can do. ;)

I got a T/C Compass in 6.5 last year. It shoots really well but my only complaint is the safety seems extra firm and just a bit rough. I tried working it on and off with some lube while watching TV to try to break it in but it didn't get a lot better. I have a couple Ruger American ranch rifles in different calibers and I much prefer the Ruger Safety but the Rugers are about $200 more. My son got a savage with a stainless action for $300 and really likes it as well. He usually buys a little more expensive ammo but I had good accuracy with regular Remington Green box and it was about $1 per shot and I won't be taking any really long shots. Plus I have been saving the brass to work up some reloads for the gun but have just been too busy to do it lately. The 6.5 is a great caliber in a very reasonably priced rifle with very mild recoil. What's not to like?

I bought a T/C Compass 6.5 CM last year. The only complaint I had was the trigger would not adjust below 4.5 lbs. I found a replacement spring kit for $12 at MCARBO.com. The trigger pull is now a crisp 2.8 lbs, which I consider acceptable for a $300 hunting rifle. My rifle and a friend's both shoot Hornady Precision Hunter 143 gr best, getting consistent 3/4" groups at 100 yds. I bought 5 or 6 different 6.5 CM loads to try for accuracy, and Hornady was best all around.
