When I was in Anniston last year for the Garand Collectors Association annual meeting the CMP had separate room set up with about two hundred M1s available for sale. I can say in all honestly that there was not a single rifle in that room which I would have purchased.
..some of those look pretty bad,,
Show some damn respect...
Send me one, I will clean it. We need 86,999 more volunteers.
If I was president I would give one to the next 87,000 military retirees.
You figure they clean them up/fix say 50,000 use the rest for parts. Sell some of the odd balls like the 1st H&R gun and some other ones for big bucks. You figure to clean them and inspect them will take maybe 2 hrs average. I don't know what they pay the guys doing that but I imagine its at least $20 and Hr. Each guy does say 6-10 guns a day, that is going to take a long time.
So now they have $102 +/- in each gun and sell them for $800- $1200 each they will still be making some serious coin. Then all the parts they have left over are worth something too, barreled actions even rough are worth 200 bucks.
At 1st I was thinking; man just throw that crap away and then.............I started really thinking about it.
I almost forgot the money used was Government money so in reality they have nothing in the guns it will all be profit.
Just think about all the other guns they have in PI; M1 Carbines, 1911a1, Thompson's, BAR's, M1919a1-6, M3's and other stuff like Jeeps and trucks.
They don't take care of them since they have zero investment in them.
Millions of wasted tax dollars again.
Same with spending billions of tax dollars on the homeless who don't care.
We have enough gun laws, what we need is IDIOT control.
Blood makes you related. Loyalty makes you family.
I thought getting old would take longer.
Math ain't your thang is it? Closer to eleventy four dozen.
