Preferred carrier

I have to ship a rifle from Wis. to Washington state. Any preferred carriers or suggestions? Its not a sale, Im shipping my son in laws gun to him.

UPS tends to be a bit cheaper, FedEx is a bit faster, but there are Post Offices everywhere.

Get a 10 dollar hardcase at Wally World and ship usps -

I've shipped USPS with a soft case and cardboard exterior wrapped. Never have an issue.

Cheap hard case....imagine they are going to drop it on its end from a 2nd story window.....ball up some cardboard around the muzzle and stuff bubble wrap around the end of the stock.....ship it US Postal service, with insurance and it will be fine. SIGNATURE CONFORMATION no matter where its shipping to.

Take the action out of the stock, wrap both with bobble wrap , put in hard case ! Ship USPS

No. Legally you MUST notify a common carrier: UPS or FedEx, that the package contains a firearm, but not the Post Office. All that the postal clerk can ask is whether or not the box contains liquids, perfume, lithium batteries or HAZMATS.

We?re having a massive amount of porch pirates in this State. I highly suggest someone will be home to receive it. Otherwise have it shipped to an FFL. At least with tracking numbers you can at least get close to a delivery time in some but not all cases.

When shipping USPS address it to yourself c/o the person it's going to , perfectly legal

Explored all your recomendations and UPS was the best service and cheapest, USPS would have worked, but each PO treats you differently. I paid $134 with $1500 insurance and signiture required. Fed ex required FLL. Thanks for the input. j

Seems awful high to me. I shipped a Remington 700 in 220 swift from Oregon to Kasey in Alabama insured for $4K and it was only $80... Was yours overnight, or regular ground??

Was regular ground, there were two rifles in the case, weighed 40 pounds.
