Why can't fate let me have a fruit bowl?

I don't know what it is about the bowls of fruit......but I'm prevented from having one for some strange reason. I shop at Publix and they have these giant bowls of fruit...watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, strawberries, pineapple, and grapes. Its just a mix of a bunch of good stuff.

For years and years I've gotten these things without any issue, but lately I've had every crazy thing imaginable happen to them before I can get them home.

I've dropped one in the parking lot......left one outside while bringing the groceries in.....my daughter stole the last one when she stopped in to visit and today I had one slide from the very back of my car, hit the back of the middle seats and bust open to make a huge mess in my car.

What evil thing did I do to fruit in a past life to make this happen??? I've never been so frustrated over fruit before.

I thought Fruit Bowl was a California football game between the Sacramento Lispers and the San Fran Sashays. But maybe I'm wrong.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

Love those publix fruit mixes... but unless they are on bogo they ain't worth it.

Keep the fruits "in the wrapper" so to say - buy 'em un-cut and cut 'em yourself. Not sure about your area but here in N Florida plenty of roadside melon sellers (and all sorts of other veggies too) as well as the occasional truck full of peaches from Georgia (about 2 hours drive).

What is great is when the local fields are being picked. I grab the wife (she speaks fluent spanish), hit the gas station for a 12 pack of cold cheap beer and we stop at a field and negotiate. Usually end up getting all we want and then some for a beer or two per melon. Last time we drove off with 3 really nice water melons and 3 cantalopes/musk melons

I must be wrong. It sounds like you just said you have the farm workers steal produce from their employer, in return for beer.

have a local fruit/vegge stand in parking lot of bowling alley just couple blocks from house. I would walk up all summer just to get cantolope or watermelon bring home cut/cube it up put in fridge, and snack on it for next few days, they got in some canary melons, don't know if that is there real name or if you call them yellow honeydews, but the skin was yellow but the flesh inside was white like honeydew only much sweeter, these were my favorites while they lasted, would mix in fresh peaches when they got them in also. as a bonus the deer in the backyard loved the skins and seeds from cleaning the mellons........

You ate it's family. Don't feel too bad, fruit is full of sugar and other carbs. Tastes good so you will eat it, but is not good for you.

Ken clearly does not understand trying to make someone feel better about their loss. And fruit contains nothing you cannot get in better nutritional packages. I like it too, but eat mostly blue berries and nothing much larger except the occasional apple.

Unless I'm mistaken only one of Casey's " fruits is actually a fruit and that is the pineapple, the others are vegetables, ah maybe not the grapes but only the pineapple grows on a tree.

Sounds like "canned" ones are your friends. Get a bunch in a bowl and leave it on the table.

Pineapples don't grow on trees, they are the fruit of a bromeliad.
