This sucks & honestly guys like me are probably part of the problem.
STI will no longer be offering ?Open? guns. These are the guys with ?2011? trademarked and their line of open guns was their flagship line for years.
Why are guys like me part of the problem?
USPSA has added two new divisions over the last 3 or so years. PCC (pistol caliber carbine) and Carry Optic.
Both of these divisions are pulling shooters away from Open.
I don?t know if y?all remember but at the beginning of this year I was shopping for a new Open gun, I was looking at either the CZ Parrot or the STI DVC Open.
At the end of the day I decided shooting major power factor just wasn?t worth the hassle and elected to build a carry optic gun for about half the price of an Open gun.
Well lots and lots of USPSA shooters are making the same choice and Open is actually shrinking kin as a division while the rest of USPSA expands.

You are definitely not the problem.
STI has been around for a long time, they understood all the signs the market was showing long before we all see it right in front of us. While this stint of discontinuations seems hurtful, it should be looked at as an improvement since STI will bringing forth a new line hot on the heels of the last DVC being sold. They have been planning, designing and producing the parts for at least the last year at least in order to bring the next new thing to market which will replace the DVC. They will let the hand wringing, guilt tripping, sorrowful attitudes control folks for a while, then like Crusaders, ride in to save the shooters by introducing their new design. Same game, different day.
Best.
