Sold my car to Carmax

Got a fair price ($15,000). They paid off the balance owed which gave me $8,500 in my pocket. Using the $8,500 for a down payment on a 2017 Lexus ES 350, sight unseen, located in Florida. A comparable car in the Memphis area would cost me 2,000-3,000 more. Having it shipped direct to me to avoid Florida sales tax. We'll be responsible only for Mississippi sales tax where it will be registered.

I've done this before with the same dealership and internet sales director. Very trustworthy.

The local dealer that sold me my last car has been bugging me to buy it back every year since purchase! Crying that they are always short on good quality used vehicles. They actually only use the word USED now days when it comes to getting your old car! After they get it, it suddenly becomes "PREOWNED"

Hope your new Lexus turns out to be a GREAT ride for you beneteau!

Very good experience. 2nd time dealing with Carmax. Appraised my car, made a offer (same as appraisal). In there and out in a couple of hours with a check in my hand. I checked NADA (online) and for an average (I think mine was better than average) auto like mine the estimated trade-in value was $15,200. They offered $200 less. Fair enough and I didn't have to go through the hassle of trying to sell it or any danger of prospective buyers.

Love the stories Rob Pitts about his time with CarMax on Vinwiki :lol::lol:. Usually Hoovie's Garage has low ball offers from CarMax but his rides are typically "hoopties".
