In my thread about the next gun itch, you mentioned some facts about the 541T and the S version, and that you have had many of both. I see that the S was the earlier version, and see the differences in the wood and engraving. One question I did have was about the drilling and tapping on the guns. I see that both are D&T'd on the receiver, but the "S" versions all seem to be D&T'd on the barrel as well, guessing for open sights. I have never seen open sights on an "S" version. In your experience, can you add any info to this subject? Thanks.

    Yes, over the many years I don't recall any S with sights. The ones I had were scoped up to get the most out of that particular rifle. Bare sights on an S would be like cooking possum on low heat, wasting and not getting the most out of that object. Imo of course-

    Added, ever notice the wood on the S's and how different the grains can be? I had one that was like blonde on right side and darker walnut on the other like from 2 different trees. If I ever see that one again I would recognize it immediately.
