Radios in the military are so much better now than 20-30 years ago. Not only are they smaller and lighter the batteries are too and they are much more secure.
Back in the day : I spent a lot of time (& $$$) on the VHF : mainly 2 meters : and the 'public service' range :::

Actually, CB (Rubber Duck) is 27mhz +/- in what the FCC calls the HF (High Frequency) band.
"Breaker breaker 19" -- The call channel 19 is 27.185 MHz
