I went to the DMV here in Central MO this a.m. as it was time to renew my plates on my pick up. They handed me new plates and I renewed for 2 years. Two years out the door set me back a whopping 66 bucks and some change....Last time I did my plates in Illinois, it was 115 bucks for 1 year..
Likely more than that now.....

Sorry for all of those who are still there...?.It is a beautiful state, great fishing and hunting spots but it goes off the rails pretty fast after that....

Since Sept it is ONLY 150 for a car now and a cheap 200 for a truck. And they are broke but will be a sanctuary state in the near future. Yes sir, you made a good call . This place will never be anything but a rotten cesspool.

Born and raised in Belleville. Left there in 1969 and would not go back at the point of a bayonet. My wife grew up in Chicago. Her brother still lives there. He pays more property tax on his car parking stall than I do on my home. Really.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

I drove through Illinois, twice, this past weekend. Going west I filled up in Indiana and didn't stop for anything until Iowa. Coming back east I left Iowa and didn't stop until the same town in Indiana. If at all possible I do not spend a penny in Illinois. It's a pretty enough state, I even have family that lives there. But I just can not support the government there with any tax dollars if it can be helped.

Pretty enough south of Springfield for sure. There is the Shawnee Forests which largely is a hidden treasure. Several large lakes like Rend and Carlyle among others. Hiking trails deluxe on the lower 1/3 rd that see light or moderate use. Big deer and goose hunting are being invaded though by out of state or Chicagoans. Hunting ground will sell in the $4000 up here.

Back in the late 80's, was transferred there by my employer...to Decatur Illinois.

I was there for a year. Not to bad a town to live in and met some nice people and some not so nice people but overall, not to bad.

Also made a few trips to/thru Chicago and it was a crap hole IMO.
The government has no rights. Only the people have rights which empowers the government.
We have enough gun laws, what we need is IDIOT control.
Blood makes you related. Loyalty makes you family.

I thought getting old would take longer.
