I use the #7 standard bag, but since I have no idea what kind of shooting you plan to do so I can't make a worthwhile suggestion. My experience is that the bags are time consuming to fill with sand, which is why many guys use lead shot, which also denser and offers better support.

    penguin1,

Do you need a front bag, rear bag or a bag for a front rest?

I usually shoot out of a mechanical front rest which uses different bags from a standard front rest bag like Mark suggests. I can help with the rear bags but not the front.

    Best.

I use old shot bags filled with rice, not so heavy to carry. Put different amounts in several bags.
