Fall ticks

It's November 8th, temperature in the mid 30's, it got below freezing last night. My son and I went a friends farm to check my deer stand and run the new pup. On the way home my son found a small tick on him, deer tick I think. Just wow, I didn't expect that. While I've been wearing bug spray when I was squirrel hunting I thought it was past that time since it froze last night. Guess not, I really don't want to put bug spray on to deer hunt next weekend.

I started an antibiotic to day because I found two of the little bastages imbeded in my shoulder. I was showering to got for a doctor visit when I found them. The nurse had a hard time getting them off me. The bigger dog ticks are easy to pull off but these little deer ticks won?t let go.
I don?t want to wear bug spray when hunting. Just need to remember to undress outside and shower immediately when I get home.
This is the third time I?ve been treated for Lyme disease.
Two years ago I got a deer tick off me in January after the temperature had been below 11 deg. f a couple of nights.

I may try dusting my pants and socks with diatomaceous earth to keep the ticks off.

I use Sawyer Permethrin on my hunting clothes. You can mix your own but I find it convenient to just buy a bottle. They say it will last 6 washings but I really dont wash my outerwear. I spray it on the clothes and let them hang outside until thoroughly dry. Don't spray it on your skin.
