Over the years I spent a lot of time in OKC. The TV stations were always competing with each other for viewers and trying to convince people to watch the 10/11 news.

One evening the pretty news lady came on during the western and in a happy upbeat voiced declared, " OKC man found beaten and shot by his car! Report at 11."

Well I had to stay up and watch. I wanted to know what kind of car would do such a thing.

I live in the OKC area but rarely watch any news, if ever. What's interesting, ever since we moved here in 96 there were two major stations weathermen. I always liked one better than the other. I do I.T. work and over my 21 years doing that, I have actually been to both. All I'll say is the one that I felt was cold and more distant on TV, was completely the opposite in person. He had a studio in his house (which is what I was there to work on) so when the weather was real bad, he could broadcast from there. For those interested, this guy was the one featured in the movie Twister.

The other guy, seemed more personable on TV. He lived at a snooty golf club elite residence and completely seemed the part in person.

Now, there is a young(er) gal on one of the stations. She is nice to look at, plus she also is a real hunter and fisherwoman.

I generally only look at the forecast on my phone. I only ever catch the news from radio or coworkers. I will say we have some of the absolute best weather coverage in the US. Part of this is due to the national weather school in Norman http://www.ou.edu/nwc. It has been said we have the most doppler weather radars of anywhere on earth. I will say that here, during severe weather, they can give block by block location of a tornado. When I go back to S.E. MO 200 miles away (where I grew up), they can't narrow it down to miles often.

Their tornado tracking in OKC is fantastic.

My hunting buddy and I were at the FAA Academy at the same time. His apartment was on the same street as mine but a few blocks closer to the academy so I picked him up on our drive in each morning.

A tornado moved through the previous night pretty much following Rockwell headed for the Wiley Post airport.

As it approached my friend's apartment the tornado lifted above the buildings, continued northward, then dropped back to ground level after passing over my apartment. It went on to mangle several planes at Post.

When I asked my buddy what he had done the night before, we were surprised to learn we each had done the exact same things.

We ate dinner, watched progress of the tornado on TV, called our wives to tell them "Goodbye", got fully dressed then went to bed.

Neither of us wanted them to find a naked white fat man in the rubble in the morning.

No kidding... Sure. I live in the country near Blanchard. I have met a few members from here before. Majority of them were prior Wannemacher shows in Tulsa but met a couple in Kansas as I used to live up there and still hunt up there. One guy here from OKC introduced me to class III stuff and also a great FFL/Pawn Shop to get stuff transferred TO (he won't do outbound transfers) in OKC.

I joined the Tri-City Gun Club (TCGC) a few years ago. But, I can shoot handguns at my place and have shot a rifle there a few times but my backstop won't last long with them.
