That's an interesting rifle for sure! I can't say I've ever seen that particular style of "checkering".
I'm also not too familiar with the 358 Norma Mag caliber.
I do love the Maple stock!
Life is far too short to hunt with an ugly gun.

358 Norma Mag is a little hotter than a 35 Whelen

Guns are like girls, I'll take the pretty ones. When I get though scratching them up then you all can have them. :D

Here is the dimension drawing for the .358 Norma Magnum:

    .358%20Norma%20Magnum4.gif

It has a slightly larger case capacity than the 7mm Rem. Mag. @ 88 grains vs 82 grains. It outshines the .35 Whelen significantly when loaded properly. This alone makes it a shame that this cartridge hasn't achieved more notoriety than the Whelen. Unfortunately, the .338 Win. Mag. outpaces this cartridges even for the big bears and moose. Loading with the 250 gr. Partition or the Swift and you can hunt nearly everything without fear with 4,800 ft/lbs of energy at the muzzle.

My choice in the .35 caliber category has always been the .35-378 Weatherby. :o:D

    Best.
