Yep, and yep. I wish Susie would stop by here more often, She's a real card.

Is Missouri one of those states where you have to shoot pistol caliber/straight wall cartridge rifles?

The rut is in full swing in north central MO. Most of what we saw were in the "chasing" stage but some were doing some "catching" according to the boys. The "chasing" game does not mesh well with handicapped hunters as very often getting into position takes longer than the chasing buck will hold still.
USMC Gunnery Sargent(Ret) Bill Murphy(a blind Veteran) was able to harvest a modest buck about 4:45 PM last evening. We had a bigger buck in front of us earlier but couldn't get it all to synch to make the shot. It was a very excited group here last night. I've been killing deer for 1/2 a century and honestly, with the equipment available these days just killing a deer isn't terribly difficult in most areas. I've been involved with handicapped hunters for 20 years and it's about the most challenging endeavor I've experienced.

No, Missouri is center fire rifle cartridges.

    Best.

Posted this in the Scout5's thread.

Got my 1st Deer yesterday afternoon about 4/430pm. Adult female Doe according to the CWD check point folks. Used a 62gr Federal Fusion bullet. The Deer jumped up in the air and landed DRT. I'd say about 50 to 75yds.

Saw a nice large Buck in the morning about 8AM but couldn't line up a good shot, before it walked into the wood line.

    Thanks Sam!

I still have my long distance vision. Tiny print is getting hard for me to read.

Thanks - dropped it off at the processor this morning. Figure putting meat in the freezer this early gives me a buffer to look for bigger bucks. Would love a shoulder mount for the living room.

I know you didn't kill that deer with a .223, all the internet experts say it is impossible.
Good luck on your hunt for a buck.

Buddy dropped a nine point on my farm yesterday. I went out today and saw a few does and a little buck, nothing I wanted to shoot. Enjoyed watching them though.

Two good days hunting....I had several does within 40 yards. Two bucks sighted. both decent so I am not yet ready to pull the trigger...May break and take a doe tomorrow just to get a tag filled. We shall see....

The main thing is I am enjoying my time outside. Nothing like some time in a tree stand to clear out the cobwebs and get life into perspective !

Congrats out there to those who have scored...
