That Forderrari movie

Claudia said she wanted to see it. I dislike movies and have no interest in cars, but I took her last night. I'd never heard of Ken Miles but it was an interesting story. An occasional flash of boobies would have kept me more interested, but there weren't any. I also had trouble understanding a lot of the dialogue because I wear earplugs to movies or risk aggravating my tinnitus - and certainly not my hearing aids.

The one thing I did understand was the "7,000 rpm" trance. I experienced that during some intense combat flights. The phenomenon in which things happen so fast that they seem to slow down is very real. It is a common occurrence in things like gunfights, when your senses and brain become hyperactive and hyperacute. Time seems to go into slow motion while your brain goes into hyperdrive. It is accompanied by a massive adrenaline dump. There's a six-dollar word for it - tachypsychia.

Anyway, it being a prime time Friday night showing, I thought the theater would be packed, but less than half the seats were filled.
I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

The 1960s feud between Ford and Ferrari racing cars.

The number of cars, planes, clothes, and other things from that era that they showed in the film were amazing. I did see one glaring error: in one sequence, Ken Miles is eating potato chips while his wife drives. The chip bag is Mylar-lined like today's - but didn't exist in the 60s. (They are another unheralded spinoff of the Apollo program which we take for granted today.)

You can watch all but the newest movies on line in your own home. Fewer and fewer people will pay $10 plus to sit in a theater with $4 cokes and $5 hot dogs.

I'd like to see that Ford/Ferrari movie.

We watched Zombie Land 2 a few weeks ago. Was a fun movie. Gotta love Woody Harellson.

I want to see it and the new Eastwood movie Richard Jewel. Both are rentals off Direct TV for me. I hate the theater...my wife gets two movie theater trips a year out of me, that's what's been negotiated. I hope the Richard jewel movie does well, he (Jewel) had his life destroyed and deserved some reward for surviving it. Unfortunately he died in 2007. The story of Carroll Shelby deserves to be on the big screen, he and Ford stomped Ferrari.

This one is available on Netflix:

    The 24 Hour War

    https://www.netflix.com/watch/80158800?trackId=13752289&tctx=8%2C3%2C720ce00a0175964fa2e0cc7d4c56a294a647ef12%3A3cc937b8a22b66fdcfbcfe84feef42caff35a9e0%2C%2C

I'm not a racing fan but this was easily watched to the very end. Lots of history and discussion from some of the drivers still alive complimented by archival film footage. It still boils down to two rich boys trying to beat each other.

    Best.

I was in L.A. and went to see it Wednesday night.

It was odd I was in the middle of this very busy place and somehow the only person who wanted to see this movie.

Anyway I think most of ya?ll would enjoy it. I didn?t ever really buy Matt Damon as Carroll Shelby - but the movie itself was good to pass a few hours.

I?d recommend it if you have 2+ hours to kill.

Didn?t get to see that one but since I have a pair of girls, 3 and 5 years old I got to go see Frozen II yesterday. The girls were dressed in Elsa and Anna dresses and the theater was full of kids. Believe it or not, all those kiddos were well behaved, no crying or loud talking. I missed the best part of the movie where Elsa and Anna saved the day due to a run to the bathroom with the 3 year old, the most important 5 minutes of the movie and I was helping a 3 year old go pee. Oh well, it will be on Netflix soon and I?ll get to watch it again and see what I missed.
