Need a primer on glacier national park

Planning a motorcycle trip to Glacier National Park for August. I have never been there and it looks like there is one main road through the park.

When I go to Yellowstone I can spend a week exploring and spend a few nights on the east, west, and middle.

Is Glacier similar to Yellowstone with a lot to explore or with the one road it is just a one or two day visit?

I must be internet challenged this morning because I am having a hard time finding a map of the park boundaries with surrounding towns.

I visited Glacier National Park 2 years ago. Stayed on the West side in a campground with toy hauler and the Harley.
We couldn't drive the park road all the way thru because of the fire, it was closed to thru travel but drove up as far as we could then turn around and return same road. Nice views but little to no animal life noted.
Next day took the road around the south to the east side .. had lunch at a casino on east side.
    Some nice views.
I'd say a 1-2 day visit would do it in my opinion.

You can't see Glacier in 2 months. Beautiful place. If you like to fish you can hike in and fish any place in the park, at least that's the way it was when I was there. I caught some nice cut throat trout out of lake McDonald and part of it is right by a road. I only had a couple of days there myself and have been wanting to go back and spend some real time there.

Yep, as noted, much less automobile access than Yellowstone. Lots of back country There's other stuff to do in the area that's not in the park though. You can go to an out-of-the-way place called Polebridge, and also tour an area called the Yaak. Make a Yaak attack to the Yaak tavern. You can tour the Miracle of American museum in Polson Montana, which is about an hour south of Glacier.

Quite a few youtube videos about motorcycles glacier national park and a few documentaries. Be ready to 'gun it' in case a bear or mountain lion attacks.

    Thanks all.

We do like to hike so may get a room in the park and ride to trail heads for hiking.

We drove through Glacier National Park a couple of years ago. It's a pretty drive on the Going-to-the-Sun Road. The road is carved out of the side of the mountain and it's narrow and a long way to the bottom. My wife was uncomfortable the whole way.

Sometimes bear activity prevents soft side camping.
