I collect vintage milk glass dishes, old Pyrex, Fire King, Hazel Atlas, and such.....people who know me think its one of the funniest things since I never cook. I just love the nostalgia of it and how stress free the old dish collector's world is. Ladies post pictures of their displays on various websites and I'm just in heaven looking at it. So, I started buying things a while back and now we have dishes all over the place in our home.
Anyway.....we have a pocket watch we cannot find and just about daily I have a moment where I think of a place to search for it. So, everyone here has caught my enthusiasm to find this thing and they too are looking in odd places at random times for this silly watch. Shelby thought she would check the bowls on my fireplace mantle for this watch and knocked a grease pot off and it broke.
So, she told Larry to look on line for a replacement. Larry didn't use my computer. I don't think anyone said the name "Fire King red dot grease pot".....I've heard the microphones on devices are used to gather intel on people and they see ads for things they've spoken about. I don't even think Larry knew what he was looking for.....so he may or may not have searched for the dish, who knows.
SOMEHOW.....I'm getting pop up ads for the very dish that Shelby broke on my Ipad. Its crazy.

Do you have OnStar in your vehicle.
Other Smart Devices?
If so they are/may be listening to your conversations.
Privacy concerns with all of them. Just recently I read an article that detailed how OnStar listened for an additional 30secs after it replied to a customers query. So if you were discussing football in the car, use OnStar to find a restaurant, and resume your conversation, Onstar is listening. You might get targeted advertisement from that conversation.
I don't have anything like alexa or google home devices. I do have a firestick, a smart tv, an Ipad, smartphone and my car is synced with my phone......this is as tech savvy as I'm getting. I know "they" are listening to me and I'm not too concerned with what nonsense they have collected on me. I figure I'm being extensively watched by the government already and its just best to keep my nose clean and entertain the monitors as much as I can.
I just hope they don't activate any CAMERAS when I'm not aware of it!!!
You'd be surprised what people are paying for these things. I paid over $400 for a set of Pyrex bowls called orange butterprint.
The one that got broken was a Fire King red dot grease pot that I got for $60 at a vintage dish collectors event.....but I see them on line with an asking price of $300.
Most of the light green dishes are called Jadeite and they are very collectible too. I'm TRYING not to get off into more types, so I haven't been buying that type.....but I somehow ended up with two of those bowls.
Some of that is pretty pricey!!!! https://www.etsy.com/search?q=melmac
l ate lots of Wheaties from those green bowls. We had plates, cups, saucers, sugar dish, and one big bowl for RICE. NO mashed potatoes tho. Being from Charleston we ate rice like most folks eat mash potatoes or grits.. TOP of that, Gramdma said, ''0nly Yankees eat mash potatoes' ..
