So how are the 'greenees' making out with their electric cars in California?

Pacific Gas & Electric Co. is set to begin shutting off power to some 375,000 people in 18 Northern and central California counties as the region again faces extreme fire weather.

One thing I have noticed is I have never been passed by an Electric Car on the highway.

I have seen several Tesla's on fire or in Limp mode on the highway.

I saw a Nissan Leaf smoking in the parking lot of a Food Lion Grocery store the other day. No one was in it but the fire department showed up.

I would not have an electric car they are a scam.

Electric Hybrids are an excellent efficiency model. Think of the modern Railroad system, most efficient land transport currently operational. They are all diesel powered generators that run electric motors. On downhill runs instead of using mechanical brakes the powertrain uses regenerative braking to slow down. Since they have no place to park all that energy (like a battery, flywheel storage or ultra capacitors) the excess is shed via HUGE resistance heaters on the top of the engine cars. (Global warming al gore) If ultra capacitance units existed to handle that load it would increase railroad efficiency even more. However storing that amount of energy in a ultra capacitor is not safely feasible with current technology (or fire fighting techniques )

A plug in hybrid is even more efficient on the car to small truck scale. A fully electric vehicle is awesome on the golf course, great for puttering around my small town or as a commuter. But, when the SHTF and it is time to go that SWF (wont fly) very far at least. All just another example of the left "feeling" something is better without going through all the research.

Maybe those subjects who needs to plug in their cars should invest in a "personal" windmill since they're basically tilting at one.

Coal and hydro still produce the largest % of electrical power for the vast majority of the USA.

The greenies and the likes of hillary and obama killing the coal industry would have raised electrical rates even more than they currently are. Thank goodness the voters saw the fallacy and Trump won allowing for oil production increases, oil/gas pipelines and coal mining.
