I used to hunt in WA with a guy who had one. I think he got it in Germany when he was stationed there but I am not 100% sure. I just remember how ugly I thought it was until he let me shoot it. It was accurate and the trigger wasn't too bad.

I was with him when he shot a nice cow elk with it at about 150yds. We were on a logging platform and shooting down hill we were west of PeEll a small town on the Olympic Penn. He shot the Elk twice, Bam bam like that. The bullet holes were within 3 inches of each other right in the pump. I also remember hauling that damn elk 150 yds uphill over a million stumps and enough dead limbs to build hoover dam ;)

Cool gun LF it brought back a few memories. Looks like its selling for a good amount too.

A vented hand guard on a "hunting" rifle?? Wow, that must be some good shooting...

My buddy's gun had a scope on it. The mount was really weird looking but it was a quick detachable mount and he had a Kahles scope with a fixed power of either 4 or 6x.

We hunted a lot together and he shot a few nice Blacktails and at least 2 Black Bears with it.

It was short like a carbine so it was a good woods gun.

I emailed a friend who suggests that GI's stationed in west Germany could buy the .308 variant at the post exchange while in country but they did not receive the 10 round magazine...

I thought perhaps that might prove interesting.

    Mike

Mike If I remember right his had a short mag that held 3 or4 rounds.

I was never stationed in Germany but I went there multiple times either as a deployment or to a school. When I was there one time I bought a SSG 69. I took it apart and put it in my Duffle bag and flew back to WA in a C-141 ;)

    WOW ... just WOW.

Don't see many of those and it's on my watch list.

That would go well with my collection of H&K Sporting Rifles.
    H&K 270 ... .22 LR Caliber w/5 round and 20 round magazines
    H&K 300 ... .22 WMR Caliber w/5 and 10 round magazines
    H&K 630 ... .223 Caliber w/5 and 10 round magazines
    H&K 770 ... .308 Caliber w/5 and 10 round magazines
    H&K 940 ... 30-06 Springfield Caliber w/5 and 10 round magazines

Also except for the 270, all have the H&K 05 scope mount w/rings and scopes that can be removed/installed with the flip of a single lever and do not lose their point of aim.

These are probably the most accurate hunting rifles in the world with polygonal rifling and very little recoil due to the locking roller action.

    :D

The SL7 is similar to the SL6 in .223 caliber.

    Here is an SL6 https://www.gunbroker.com/item/832576356

Here is an H&K 05 scope mount. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/843788703

Yup. Basically a HK 91 in a wood stock. The last one I shot was a few years back and I was shooting from a bench with a dirt berm on my right that must have been 10 ft. high and was 15 or 20 ft. away. After firing my mag I couldn't find my brass. The damn thing was throwing every round completely over the berm, just like a 91.

Like everything else H&K, stupid expensive. I seem to remember their AR15 mags were $50 or $60 each at one time. I have six brand new ones that I got from somewhere on a trade I think.

I was training Kenyan Solders and we were at the rifle range. The G3 is their standard rifle, needless to say I stayed on the left side of the range. Brass was going evrywhere another reason I prefer the FAL or AR.
