Anyone know FALs really well?

Waiting and waiting on my falfiles account to be activated.

Anyway, my current FAL (a G1 on DCI) is extremely inaccurate. Now I know that the FAL should do 3moa or so and a true honest 2moa FAL is not common, so I'm not expecting miracles. But I can't keep them on a pie plate at 50 yards. Using various types of milsurp and milspec ammo, even tried a box of late 60s vintage LC Match-use-only. Don't think it is the nut behind the trigger - I can shoot a buddy's SAR48 and get 3-4MOA as one would expect.

I've tried with and without the muzzle device on - no difference in "group" or location on target, which would be nice if I could actually shoot something I could call a group.

Sights are not wobbly, I've tried with a red dot as well. All furniture is tight, receiver lockup is tight, mags don't wobble (and no I'm not using them as a monopod).

Any suggestions as to what else to check before I sell it off as a complete parts kit and try again? Receiver + parts kit + the $3-400 I'd pay to get a barrel and then get it installed and properly headspaced could darn near get me into a SAR48/4800 ...

Rifling looks OK, no obvious damage, etc. and no real change from spotless clean to 200 rounds later.

Crown, while no 11 degree target crown, has no obvious nicks, gouges, dents, etc.

    What was the barrel torque?

I built a FAL and if I remember the barrel went in hand tight to to about the 1130 position and I torqued it to 100 in/pounds to 1200 position. It was an Israeli parts gun.

Had a 16 inch FAL/Stg58 carbine built by Ohio Rapid Fire on an Imbel receiver.
Never was impressed by the accuracy. The rear sight wobbled back and forth and the trigger pull had to be 18 to 20LBs!

Being a FAN of the AK47 rifle, I found the adjustable gas system on the FAL to be a gimmick.

Sold off the Fal in favor of a M1A, that shot way tighter groups, with superior iron sights, and a superior trigger. Plus no gas adjustment required.
