I cannot believe they let them vote

China let the Hong Kong citizens vote.

And they voted in all Pro-Democracy candidates, making Beijing look kind of stupid.

I have called this wrong all along I cannot believe the ChiComm's are going to let this go. They are seriously re-educating the muslims in the far west of the country and in Tibet they are crushing all opposition so I don't understand why they have not brought in the tanks on HK.

Hong Kong's pro-democracy campaign left Beijing with a bloody nose today after a landslide local election victory saw them win 90 per cent of the seats up for grabs.

Pro-democracy protesters celebrated in the streets as the results were announced by election officials, in a result that has been seen as a massive victory for the anti-government protest movement.

The vote has been treated as a referendum on the China-backed government's handling of months of violent political unrest - and the people of Hong Kong dealt a clear rebuke to city leader Carrie Lam.

Wu Chi-wai, leader of the city's biggest pro-democracy party, said Monday that the bloc swept nearly 90% of 452 district council seats, which will help it take unprecedented control of 17 out of 18 district councils. The results were based on official tallies announced by election officials.

We may see those tanks soon. I can't believe the Chi-coms will let this challenge to their authority go un-answered.

Neither can I. They have lost face over this whole issue and need to put a stop to it before it spreads.

It'd be a shame if a Conex container full of Javelin's bound for who-knows-where accidentally got unloaded at the port...

China's elite are more worried about what will happen to them internationally than they are about their citizens.

With all the riots and standoffs going on I cannot believe the elections were not "postponed".

The only reason I can see is China doesn't want to do some crazy Tianaman square type thing, that would boost Trumps "Tough China Stance" and help get him reelected. Maybe they are holding back to see of creepy Joe can get elected because they can control ol'joe 30330.

Mao Zedong was cunning and deadly, and a Communist. You will never overthrow their government by voting. Hong Kong is just a money making con to allow Communist to flourish with The NWO oligarchy of manipulators! Go buy a Tesla and see how they do it now.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely! American's Oligarchy has made millions with The Red's and still are.

    Hundred Flowers Campaign

The ideological crackdown following the campaign's failure re-imposed Maoist orthodoxy in public expression, and catalyzed the Anti-Rightist Movement. Observers differ as to whether Mao was genuinely surprised by the extent and seriousness of the criticism, or whether The Hundred Flowers Campaign was in fact a premeditated effort to identify, persecute, and silence critics of the regime.

Pretty sure the commie powers that be are playing a cat and mouse game in HK. HK elects who they want and after the election the commie gov't start taking heads. They not only get the instigators but their newly elected leaders as well!

Universal suffrage is guaranteed until 2047 by the treaty between China and Britain.

China has waited almost 200 year to fully re-absorb the once British colony. Another 27 years is not a big deal.
Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.

That's the scenario I see coming.
Once elected officials are sworn in and seated there will be a massive rash of assassinations that will A. eliminate opposition, B. put the fear of gov. in the people.

They do seem to be very good at playing the long game. We, on the other hand, don't tend to think much farther ahead than the next Kardashian gossip.

    Money

HK is the trade center and aggression towards them will destabilize foreign investment.

    My best answer
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Now that Trump signed the bill supporting the Rioters/Protesters placing sanctions on Chinese politicians and Government employees the ChiComm Government has accused the US again of meddling in their affairs(Which is true).

Now the ChiComms are threatening to send in the ARMY to restore order.

I cannot believe they have let it go on this long.

As has been said here before - "Not our Circus, Not our monkey."

    +1

But we have interfered with the Bill that was signed.

Like 11b said before it would be like Belgium interfering with the US over the OWS idiots.
