Adhesive advise please

I have an old "Stanley" 3" belt sander that the rubber sleeve (1 1/2" dim. 3" long, 1/8" thick) on the drive drum pulled apart and needs to be replaced. Unable to find a replacement. I have some 1/8" sheet rubber. Do you think I could cut and glue this material on the steel drum? If so, what glue would be best? Thanks

but I would do it , I have had good luck with the gorilla clear glue ( not the super glue ) I would try it if it fails just make another nothing too loose but a little time if it fails

Myself, I would use a contact type. And wipe the sheet rubber down with a little lacquer thinner. It activates something in the rubber and makes it sticky. Patching cheap hip waders taught me that. I'm surprised you can't find the part you need.

Another vote for the contact cement. I would rough up the back of the rubber with sandpaper and if possible, the roller. Use several hose clamps to hold in place for 24 hrs.

How about looking for some rubber hose the right diameter that you can slip on the roller and fasten with rubber cement?

I like the rubber hose idea. use a hair dryer to heat it up and stretch it on tight.
